BACKSTORY: Madison Pov: My parents grew me and my two brothers Michael and Tyler up to be independent, hard working, and strong adults. Our parents didn't tell us what to do in life, but what we should be. Michael is 3 and a half years older than me and Tyler is 1 year and a half older than me, but neither of them ever made me feel like I was a baby. The only reason I got through middle and high school was because I had my brother's there. They helped me and protected me. When College came, I was alone. Me and my brothers were born and raised in Norman Oklahoma, but I decided to attend Stanford University. I was very smart but I was still very suprised they accepted me, because they're acceptance rate was very low. My decision to go to Stanford was the reason I haven't seen my family in almost 6 months. I missed them very much, but I made my choice for a reason, for a bigger and better opportunity, for my life and my future. The most easiest part about my decision was telling my family. They were so understanding and supported me in my journey. They also agreed to call and check up on me every day, including visiting me every few months. I loved my family and wouldn't do anything to mess up the strong relationship we all have with one another. Everything I ever did In life was for my future, I was proud of what I am now, what I became, and the effort I put in to get this far in life, so was my whole entire family. Even though I loved myself for me, I was also insecure of myself. My life might seem perfect, but it isn't. My life is complicated and it takes a strong person to deal with the struggles. I get bullied for being smart, some of my college mates tease me and make fun of me for studying instead of going to parties. I would love to say their words didn't affect me, that I didn't care about a single thing they say about me, but that would be a lie, something I also don't do. I do care about what they say, and their words do affect me. They make me feel less than what I am, and make me feel weak, but I never show them, never give them the satisfaction knowing they got to me, and made me feel bad about myself and who I am. When I was younger, I had many challenges that I thought would bring me down, but I remember someone telling me: "In life, you will face challenges and you might feel weak, but don't let your challenges become your weakness. Let your challenges become your strength. Use every brick they throw at you to stand on, to bring yourself up, to climb, instead of falling down. The toughest times in life, will one day be the best days of your life. What hurts you the most will help you if you don't let it bring you down." Ever since I heard those words, they motivated me to become stronger. I lived off those words, and the moment I started college without my family, I used and lived off those words. Besides the calls from my family, the only thing that helped me stay strong was those words. They helped me in my hardest times, and they helped me get through college too. And just like the person said, it did help me, it did one day, become the best days of my life. Nicholas Pov: Growing up, things were tough for me. When I was 8, my father left my mother and my mother got married to another man, I even have a half sister, Natasha. Me and my sister were close for half siblings, but I haven't spoke to my mother, step-father, or Natasha in almost 2 years. I was born and raised in Naples Florida, but I always wanted to move to California for a fresh start. When I heard about Stanford University in Stanford California, I decided to apply. My GPA was 3.74, so I was surprised when they accepted me. While researching about Stanford, I noticed the GPA requirements were at 3.99, but I decided to apply anyway, although I never would have thought that i'd get in. When I first started going to Stanford, it was lonely and I somewhat missed my family. My family didn't want me to go to Stanford, because it would be too far away. Even though they didn't support my decision, I still loved them, and I knew they only wanted me to be close to them. But I left to start over, and leave past in the past, to make something for myself. Something I didn't see back in my hometown. As months passed, I started to warm up to Stanford, and feel like I belonged there. I moved out of my dorm, into a off campus apartment for the last 2 years of college. I made friends and I partied almost every weekend. Even though I loved to party, I kept my grades up in school, and I continued to work for extra credit, just in case my grades ever started to drop, I would be okay. Everything was good for me, my life was good enough.
